Meet Paula Fryland

EVP and Director of Consumer and Business Banking, Zions Bank

Paula Fryland joined Zions Bank in August 2016 as Executive Vice President and Director of Consumer and Business Banking. In this role, she oversees retail and business banking in the bank’s Central Idaho, Northern Utah, Capital/South Davis, Cottonwood, Wasatch Back, and Southern Utah retail regions, a total of 63 branches. In 2017, she was listed among Utah Business magazine’s “30 Women to Watch.”

She has 30 years of experience leading change and innovation in the banking industry. Prior to joining the company, she spent 25 years with PNC in increasing roles of responsibility, most recently as President of the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Southern New Jersey markets. She also served as an Executive Vice President in the PNC Financial Service Group and later led PNC Healthcare, a national healthcare group that combined treasury management, transaction processing, and traditional corporate banking for the health care sector. In 2007, she was named by Treasury and Risk magazine as one of the top 100 Most Influential People in Finance.

Fryland is active in the communities where she lives and works. She chairs Zions Bank’s Women’s Advisory Board, which meets throughout the year and brings together women business owners in various fields to better learn how to advance women in Utah. She is also a supporter of Weber County Pathways and the International Dark-Skies Association. During her tenure with PNC, she was an executive committee member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Chamber’s CEO Council for Growth. In addition, she was co-chair of the Barnes Foundation Corporate Council and was a member of the Select Greater Philadelphia Operating Committee, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Corporate Council, the Temple University Leadership Council, and the Forum of Executive Women. Fryland holds a bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers College.
