Meet Patti Cook

Director of Communication & Marketing, Women's Leadership Institute

Patti Cook has spent two decades in marketing and communication nationwide, strategically helping to build events and programs from inception to execution. She spent time in Washington DC working at a female owned event planning company with clients such as the US Government and The National Spelling Bee. She moved to Salt Lake City for a job with NBC during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Deciding to stay in Utah, she became regional account manager at Modern Display handling clients like Nike and Outdoor Retailer and eventually became an independant consultant creating city-wide and boutique events nationwide.

She has also been involved in local community outreach and advocacy efforts. As a WLI’s Political Development Series graduate, Patti testified with the YWCA on Utah’s Capitol Hill to help secure increased funding for maternal mental health. And with Action Utah, Patti created curriculum and outreach efforts to successfully teach Utahns to advocate on all levels of local and state government. With her local school district, she serves on the community councils of her children’s schools.

Patti is passionate about education, advocacy, and women’s issues, especially the intersection of women and the workplace. She has a BA in English/Sociology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Professional Communication from Weber State University.

She is married with three children and loves books, dancing in the kitchen, and good conversation.
