SALT LAKE CITY (October 14, 2022) — Yesterday the Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) honored A. Scott Anderson, President and CEO, Zions Bank, with the inaugural Women’s Leadership Institute A. Scott Anderson Ally Award, also naming the award after him.

Anderson was unaware of the new award or that he was receiving it, attending the event as a panelist. While accepting the award, Anderson said, “the greatest untapped resource in the nation is Utah women.”

Future Women’s Leadership Institute A. Scott Anderson Ally Awards will be given by WLI to men or women who are exceptional allies in the efforts of supporting and promoting women in Utah.

In 2015, WLI, a 501(c)3, was founded by Anderson, with an intention to make Utah a better place for women. In the years since, Anderson has continued as a strong advocate and ally for women and WLI. Patricia Jones has been the CEO of WLI since 2015 when asked by Anderson to lead the organization.

At the same WLI event, over 60 businesses and organizations were also recognized and awarded a medal for their commitment to WLI’s cornerstone ElevateHER Challenge to elevate women in business and politics. These companies committed to one or more key areas of focus including more women in senior leadership, adding women to boards, increasing retention rates of women, monitoring the gender pay gap and supporting women who run for political office.

“These companies and organizations are examples of the leaders in Utah, and even across the nation, who are committed to create change now and for the next generation,” said Patricia Jones, CEO of WLI. “We are honored to work with them and prove the business case for gender diversity.”
