The Salt Lake County (SLCO) Mayor’s Office is currently seeking applicants for the SLCO Boards and Commissions listed below. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please pass the word along. Here at WLI, we are particularly interested in seeing more women on boards.

Board Name: Arts & Culture Advisory Board
Notes: The Arts & Culture Advisory Board guides and encourages support for Salt Lake County’s cultural facilities and advises on policies for the County’s public art program and collection. The board is recruiting new members who are interested in supporting the arts and live in County Council Districts 2, 5, and 6. T

Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the board meets every other month.


Board Name: Career Service Council
Notes: The Career Service Council (CSC) hears appeals of employees that were not resolved at lower levels regarding topics such as termination, suspension, demotion, transfer for disciplinary reason, evaluations, and extension of probation. It is a bipartisan board consisting of three members, and it is now looking for two Alternate Council Members. 

Term: Terms for Alternates can last for up to 1 year. The number of times per year that the CSC meets depends on how many cases are brought forward; in recent years, the CSC has met about 10 times per year. Alternate Council Members fill in when one or more regular members are unable to attend; Alternates may need to fill in 2-3 times during the year.


Board Name: Dimple Dell Park Advisory Board
Notes: 
This advisory board makes recommendations regarding the planning, development, use, and protection of Dimple Dell Regional Park in Sandy.
Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the board meets monthly.


Board Name: Open Space Trust Fund Advisory Committee
Notes:
The Salt Lake County Open Space Trust Fund Advisory Committee serves to advise the County Council and Mayor on the preservation, acquisition, and development of land which may be or is currently being used as Open Space. Salt Lake County residents who live in County Council Districts 1, 4, and 6 are especially encouraged to apply.
Term: 
Terms last for 4 years, and the number of times per year that the committee meets depends on how many open space applications the committee receives. In recent years, the committee has met 5-6 times per year.


Board Name: Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Notes:
This board reviews, deliberates, and makes recommendations to the County Parks & Recreation Division, the County Mayor, and County Council regarding issues of concern and importance related to parks and recreation facilities and programs in the greater county-wide community. Residents living in County Council Districts 1 and 2 are especially encouraged to apply. 
Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the board meets monthly.


Board Name: Salt Lake County Bicycle Advisory Committee
Notes:
The Salt Lake County Bicycle Advisory Committee (SLCBAC) promotes biking and walking as fun and healthy travel options for people of all ages and abilities. SLCBAC’s efforts help to advance the implementation of active transportation initiatives in Salt Lake County. Everyone is welcome to apply, especially individuals living in the southwest area of Salt Lake County. 
Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the committee meets monthly.


Board Name: Salt Lake County Board of Health
Notes:
The Salt Lake County Board of Health is currently seeking three members: one representative from a business in Salt Lake County that is regulated by the Health Department (see below for examples of regulated businesses) and two at-large members. The Board of Health is responsible for determining general public health policies and may adopt and enforce rules, regulations, and standards within Salt Lake County. An applicant must be a Salt Lake County resident to be considered.

Examples of Health Department regulated business are as follows: Food establishments, mobile food trucks, swimming pools, body art (tattoo/piercing) facilities, cosmetology facilities, lodging (hotel/motel), massage facilities, tanning facilities, recycling facilities, and vehicle emissions testing centers. 
Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the Board meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month.


Board Name: Salt Lake County Fair – Family FarmFest – Board
Notes:
The Salt Lake County Fair Board plans and hosts the Family Farm Fest, a re-imagined community event that focuses on families, youth, competition, and education. The board is looking for new members who are interested in participating in all aspects of planning and organizing a celebration of rural traditions in our urban community. 
Term: Terms last for 3 years, and the board meets monthly.
